Do you have a gymnast who wants to add to their skills? Did you or your child love the Circus of the Stars end of the year performance and want to start preparing for next year? Or, are you an adult who is looking for a new way to stay in shape? If so, these classes have something to challenge and inpire you!

Skills We Teach
Static Trapeze - This classic apparatus has been delighting audiences for decades. In this case, the trapeze is either still, spinning or gently swinging as the performer shows off daring stunts on a bar hung 4 to 7 feet of the ground.
Aerial Fabric - Also known as silks or tissue, the aerial fabric is one of the most beautiful acts in the circus. The performer climbs two pieces of fabric and executes a series of beautiful poses and controlled drops.
Lyra - Also known as aerial hoop, the lyra looks like a metal hula hoop hung on an end and is often spinning as the performer dances in and around it.

In addition to working on one or more of the apparatus, you will work on stage presence, performance quality, flexibility and strength training.

Benefits
Circus arts build confidence and coordination. Students gain balance and strength as they learn to manipulate their body weight in the air. Aerial arts display grace and athleticism and you'd be surprised at how quickly you can obtain both even if you can't yet do a pull-up! In addition, if you are already a gymnast, circus is an opportunity to take the skills you've learned into adulthood. Many national and international circuses look for former gymnasts who are trained aerialists. Who knows, maybe this could be the beginning of a carreer!
Who Can Participate?
Everyone! Aerial work is perfect for the gymnast who is looking for a new challenge or for anyone at any skill level who is looking to try something new.

Is it safe?
Just like in gymnastics where you start with a forward roll, we start out keeping it very simple. Tricks are first learned very low to the ground (lower than the uneven bars!), then the student progresses at his or her own pace. Safety is always the first priority and the rules and guidelines to keep each student safe are taught at every stage of learning. The teaching methods come from a long tradition of the highest safety standards and, in order to maintain these standards, students may be held back if the teacher determines that any behavior compromises their safety.

When are classes and how much to they cost?
The classes are offered by private lesson only. Private lessons are $50 per hour for one student, $60 per hour for two students. Private lessons are by appointment only and are usually booked far in advance. Please fill out the contact form for more information.
